A fledgling chick is a young bird that has been capable of flight.

Burns Bog Conservation Society's Celebrating Women & the Spirit of the Crane recognizes a young female fledgling chick annually. This awards program recognizes young women across the Lower Mainland for projects which demonstrate their commitment to the environment. This award is given to young women who exhibit promise, to encourage them to continue to contribute to the growth of the environmental programs in our Lower Mainland community.
